Hebi Feihe Share Co., Ltd. was founded in 1961. Its main factory is located in Chaoyang Street, Shancheng District. It is an enterprise mainly engaged in the production of foot protection products. Due to the outstanding performance of its mining rubber boots in terms of waterproofing, anti-skid and wear resistance, the company was identified by the former Ministry of Chemical Industry as a designated manufacturer of mining rubber boots. Its domestic market share of mining rubber boots has remained at 60% to 80% for many years. With such a high domestic market share of mining rubber boots, why did the company shift its main development direction to the production of safety shoes?

It is understood that since 2014, a large number of domestic industrial and mining enterprises have stopped production, and the use of mining rubber boots has been decreasing year by year. In accordance with the requirements of the national supply-side structural reform, Feihe Company, based on its good reputation in labor protection products, will focus its development on the production of safety shoes.

The reporter saw in the company's safety shoe factory located in the Small and Medium Enterprise Entrepreneurship Park in Shancheng District that in the nearly 2,000-square-meter production workshop, large intelligent robots were waving their mechanical arms, continuously performing a series of operations such as cowhide cutting, upper shaping, steel plate inlaying, laser shaping, etc., and only less than 10 workers were doing the post-decoration work of the finished safety shoes.

"In accordance with international standards, the company has introduced three highly automated safety shoe production lines from Germany, using the world's advanced upper injection polyurethane foaming process. Workers only need to assist beside the machine to complete the production of safety shoes." Xu Jikui said that according to design standards, each production line can produce 300,000 pairs of safety shoes each year.

"Safety shoes have functions such as anti-smashing, insulation, anti-static, oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, high temperature resistance, shock absorption, and anti-sole puncture. They are widely used in machinery, metallurgy, chemical industry, electricity, construction, outdoor protection and other industries, and have broader market prospects." Xu Jikui said that since the safety shoes project was approved in June 2015, 300 million yuan has been invested. After market research, infrastructure projects, product trials and other links, it was officially put into production in June this year.

"Our products make up for the defects of ordinary safety shoes, such as single shape and airtightness. The appearance is designed according to the style of casual shoes and travel shoes. There are both high-top and low-top ones. The color selection is timely adjusted according to the popular colors of each year, and the product appearance is fashionable and bright. At the same time, the shoe body is made of calfskin imported from India as the main raw material, and the sole is made of polyurethane with high toughness, tear resistance and wear resistance, which ensures the breathability and safety of the safety shoes." Xia Guosu, a workshop worker, said that due to the use of the world's advanced continuous injection polyurethane foaming process, the shoe body and the sole do not need to be glued, and the two can be combined together using high-temperature foaming technology, further extending the service life of the safety shoes.

"As soon as the product was launched, it was well received by consumers and safety production enterprises at home and abroad. At present, the company has obtained the qualification to sell safety shoes to the military, and the products have been listed on the military procurement network and included in the military procurement scope. Since the production started in June this year, the sales revenue of safety shoes in two months has reached more than 6 million yuan, calculated at a wholesale price of 200 yuan per pair."
